First to graduate from Lemon Ave. campus, we trod the "Burma Road" and helped to set the tone.

I've heard from several classmates who've reported being surrounded but unharmed by the recent San Diego fires. Good news that we hope will continue.

Are three years enough to plan a reunion (or perhaps two, since the ball was dropped in 2000). Where are Ellen Sisola and Joann Rodgers when we really need them? (Apologies to other hard workers.) Let's try using this forum topic as the organizing point. Add your ideas as comments. Remember few of us are still constrained by the calendar, and some wouldn't mind a few warm days in winter but have no need of more hot days in summer. :-)

Since, as Rees said, "Season is irrelevant (though friends in northerly climes lean to the refreshing winter or spring rather than the hot summer," and, "some wouldn't mind a few warm days in winter," I suggest our 50th reunion be held on the other West Coast, the Sun Coast of Florida during the winter when it is sublime here. You'll feel right at home with all the other white haired retirees. It's quiet; they impound cars that play loud rap music. People wave at you with all five fingers. The beaches are very clean and the water is warm. And there are more doctors than lawyers.

OK. The die is cast. About 100 people are "in the loop" and though they cannot be accused of torturing prisoners, they can participate in reunion planning (which some may say is the same thing). Use this forum to communicate ideas. Suggestions to date: Keep it Simple. Regionalize mini-reunions. Meet any time/place but July-September in SoCal (too hot). Round One: Just type it; we'll winnow down the suggestions by Fall and move forward, probably for Spring 2010.

Harmon; I am with you regarding an east coast reunion since my wife and I are in Borth Carolina now. Maybe a mini reunion of those who are on the "other" coast with us. I was at the reunion on the Queen in '02 and the big bash at TCHS in '03 or 4, whenever.

Add me to the list of people from the Pacific Northwest (or anywhere else) who would prefer to not go to Southern Calif. for our reunion if it has to be in the summer. How about somewhere nice and sunny for fall or spring?

The traditional option is some hotel or conference center in SoCal. (It was pointed out to me this week that Las Vegas and other tourist venues often have great deals in their respective off seasons, and travel prices are often similarly seasonal. Most of such would imply Spring or Fall to balance price with weather. We have numerous classmates in So. NV and some in other moderate climes. Ideas?

I suggest that we have elevated signs at various tables/areas labeled with groups that used to know each other quite well in high school. Examples would be the varsity football team, swim team, Spanish IV class, physics class, pep commission, science club, yearbook staff. Are there specific groups you would like to reconnect with?

Here's a list of the missing. If you are in touch with any of these classmates, please (a) ask them to register on this site or (b) send their contact info to me by clicking my link at left. Protect their privacy; PLEASE DO NOT type addresses, phones or emails in this forum. Thanks, Rees Clark for the reunion committee.

Carolyn Less Dierksen writes: How about several regional get-togethers after the holidays and skype or use some other technology (or a telephone!) to come up with a plan for "the big one" that will accommodate the most people. I would be willing to travel to any area which has good facilities and easy access via airline. Just a thought.

Well I don't care too much where it is held, but I would sure like to attend a reunion I have 3 daughters and a bunch of grand children in Orange County The way things are shaping up all my trips are going to interfere with my summertime fishing. We could have the reunion near my house in Sterling Alaska Its pleasant during the summer and definately not to hot This would probably not be practical My preferance would be a location in So Calif where we all grew up But I would travel most anywhere to attend Thanks to all who are working on this project Lets have a great get-together Harmon: I just spent two weeks in Florida and it was cold. We got yu beat tho Tues morning it was minus 22 here Best regards to all, Dave Morris

I prefer good old So.Calif. Summer isn't hot there. That's a dry heat with an ocean breeze at night. Here in the middle of the US in MO it is HOT HOT HOT AND STICKY STICKY STICKY WITH BUGS GALORE. Spring has too

much rain and too many tornadoes. Fall is beautiful but short. I hope we have a reunion. I don't like the idea of tables labeled with groups. One would

have to be "loaners" Not a good idea. I

am looking forward to it.

Next month it will be 50 years since we graduated. When my husband's Santa Monica High graduating class had their 50 year reunion in 2008, it had been planned for about 2 years --- venue chosen, rooms reserved, flights booked by those of us who planned to go, etc. What's the status for our class? Any hope we will really be able to do this? Is anyone seriously working on it and just haven't told us yet? Thanks! Janell
