Policies
Here is a summary of association policies and procedures.

Registration

Registration and limited use of the alumni directory and forums are  FREE  for all alumni and friends of Temple City High School; graduation and/or diploma are not required. Welcome home!

Subscription Membership

Membership in TCHS Alumni News Assn. offers many benefits. Members help to determine the course of the association. Membership requires subscription and a small annual donation. Non-members can register and use many features of the site. Proceeds of subscriptions net of publishing costs go to support of the web site; surpluses are accumulated in contemplation of an alumni scholarship fund.

Privacy

CONFIDENTIALITY. By default the association does not publish registrants' or subscribers' contact information. There are circumstances under which a member may reveal contact information intentionally or accidentally. These include
  • typing the contact information into a display field, such as a user comment or personal page
  • replying to a message sent through the public contact link(s) in the roster (paid subscribers can avoid this by requesting a TCHS Alumni mailbox, which can be linked in lieu of the registered address)
Although the association makes an effort to maintain the confidentiality of users' data, we make no representation that external users cannot access such data, and by use of the system users hold us harmless for any unwanted contact.

EXTERNAL CONTACTS. Contact through the directory is open to the public, using a form that does not display or publish the member's email address. This is to allow friends to contact you without first registering. When we tried it the other way, the fear of spam kept alumni away. The trade-off is that anyone can click individual links in the directory and send a message. Because this is time consuming and inefficient few go to the trouble of repeatedly clicking the individual links. When we see unusual traffic we investigate. We allow alumni to send a reasonable number of messages, including business messages, per day. Since 2002, the number of externally sourced, unsolicited business messages, including obvious scams and "phishing" messages, has been less than one thousand compared to the over one-million page views by our readers. Because paid enrollment is low and this is generally working we currently have no plans to restrict mail-link access further.
