You'll look in vain for the rose garden. La Rosa School, like all the elementary schools in town, is named for an adjacent street. Which is probably a good thing; it might have been named for a politician later sent to who knows what fate.

Opened in 195? (help, please), La Rosa was the last elementary school to be built. At the time, the south end of the town was "rural" and had a relatively low population density.
